Our course embarks on a journey through the life of Saint Eugene de Mazenod as he responded to God's Call that led him to the establishing of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate congregation that eventually spread the services to the poor and most abandoned people all over the world. The same Oblate charism reached the shores of the Philippines and is imbibed through the educational philosophy of Notre Dame University. It evokes dynamic participation from the students to engage in discourse on their own journey of life as students, young persons, citizens of the nation and shapers of the world. The NDU goal of harnessing students' potentials as transformative social leaders is sparked by this Oblate charism that the students learn, research further, and integrate in their lives through their education at NDU.

Philosophy 16n Theodicy/Philosophy of Religion course enhances the students' philosophical understanding of the important principles engaging with one's belief that relates to religion. This probes into reasoning on understanding God as human beings find themselves in reality that brings them paradoxically into experiences of evil. Philosophical inquiries arise in the human encounters with other beings in the world and the cosmos. Is it reasonable to believe as one does in religion when evil prevails in human existence? What happens to God as perfect goodness with evil experienced by humans? Is there evil? If so, why is there evil in the world and the cosmos that came from a good God? Is evil of God?
