MMA 313 – Digital Sound Design is a course that introduces students to the creative and technical aspects of producing, editing, and integrating sound for multimedia projects. The subject explores how audio enhances storytelling, mood, and user experience across various platforms such as film, animation, games, advertising, and interactive media.
Students learn the fundamentals of sound theory, including frequency, amplitude, acoustics, and audio perception, along with practical skills in recording, editing, mixing, and mastering digital audio. The course also covers the use of digital audio workstations (DAWs), sound libraries, and audio effects to create original soundscapes and enhance visual media.
Emphasis is placed on creativity, attention to detail, and synchronization of sound with visual elements. Students also examine the role of sound design in communication, branding, and emotional impact, as well as ethical and legal considerations in audio production. By the end of the course, students are expected to produce high-quality sound assets and integrated audio for multimedia applications.
