MMA 212 – Digital Photography is a course that introduces students to the principles, techniques, and creative applications of photography using digital cameras and imaging tools. The subject focuses on both the technical and artistic aspects of capturing images, emphasizing how composition, lighting, exposure, and timing contribute to effective visual storytelling.
Students are trained in the fundamentals of camera operation, including aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and white balance, as well as post-processing techniques using photo editing software. The course also explores photographic genres such as portrait, landscape, documentary, product, and conceptual photography.
Beyond technical skills, the subject highlights the importance of visual communication, creativity, and developing a personal photographic style. Ethical practices in photography, such as proper representation, consent, and responsible image editing, are also discussed. By the end of the course, students are expected to produce well-composed and professionally edited digital photographs that communicate clear ideas and narratives.
